Making An Appointment
Appointments can be booked in advance, and on the day. Appointments are in high demand, so please inform us as soon as possible if you will not be able to attend so that the appointment can be given to another patient. We make available additional routine appointments from 08:30AM every day, so ring or book online early if you want a same-day appointment, they quickly go! (usually within 20 minutes). We also offer pre-bookable Saturday morning appointments. Routine appointments are only 10 minutes long. Please be realistic in relation to the number of problems you present (we would expect to cover 1-2 problems during each consultation) . If you feel you might need a double appointment please discuss this with the receptionist when booking your appointment. To help the GPs run their surgery to time and continue to provide the best quality of care to all, it would be helpful if you tell the GP at the start of the consultation how many problems you want to cover, you may be asked to book a further appointment if not all of the problems can be dealt with during that consultation.
Each GP has a limited number of appointments for telephone consultations daily. These can be pre-booked for a specific GP. If appointments for a specific GP are full for that day, you will be offered a telephone consultation with an alternative GP. If no telephone consultations are left for the day you request, you will be offered an appointment later in the week. If you need to speak to a GP in relation to a medical emergency, you will be offered a telephone appointment with the on-call GP (you can’t specify a specific GP in this case)
We offer emergency appointments at the surgery if no routine appointments are available. Emergency appointments are strictly for emergencies only. You will be asked to inform the receptionist the indication for the emergency appointment, this allows the GPs to triage the requests. The GP will be aware of the reason you give when requesting an emergency appointment. Please do not request an emergency appointment just because there are no routine appointments available, this can be dangerous for fellow patients as it can delay those who have genuine medical emergencies seeking urgent medical treatment. If you are unsure if you need an emergency appointment, firstly discuss with the receptionist, if there is any doubt, they will discuss with the on-call GP. These appointments are for one problem only, and the appointment is short (usually around 5 minutes).
Please note that Saturday appointments must be pre-booked. These appointments are ideally for people who can’t attend the surgery during the week due to work or care commitments.
Unfortunately you are unable to collect repeat prescriptions at the surgery on Saturdays. This surgery is for pre-booked appointments only, we are not staffed to deal with emergency medical problems.
